What is the Laser Diameter Gauge Machine?

Laser Diameter Gauges is a professional non-contact dynamic diameter measurement instrument suitable for measuring the diameter of fiber optic cables, wire and cable, glass tubes, plastic tubes, bearings, and other round workpieces online. The device not only measures and displays the diameter value and deviation value but also can automatically control the diameter according to the user’s requirements to maintain the consistency of the wire diameter.

  • Measuring principle

The beam generated by the laser irradiates on the rotating prism, the beam reflected by the prism is transformed into a parallel beam by lens 1, and the parallel beam is converged on the receiving element by lens 2 (see Fig. 1).

When the object is placed on the focal plane of the lens 1, part of the light will be blocked and produce shadows, thus generating a corresponding electrical signal on the receiving element, which is processed by the diameter meter to obtain the diameter value and a series of related signals.
